The media art exhibition “Under Construction” in Liepaja Museum will take place from November 13 until December 4, the opening – November 12 at 19.00.
Exhibition artists: Gints Gabrāns, Mārtiņš Ratniks, Pēters Riekstiņš, Anna Priedola, Maija Demitere, Samanta Kalēja, Uldis Hasners.

The human kind has always feared the unknown. Initially people tried to foresee, but now they calculate the invisible, ever-present processes that run the world. Computers shape and expand the world by creating new and unexplored virtual spaces and digital resources. In the exhibition “Under Construction” new media artists dig into the archives of information, and transform data into art, personalizing virtual space.

Gints Gabrāns allows us not only to catch Pokémon, but also admire artworks in augmented virtual reality. Anna Priedola researches the digitalization of form – its benefits and dangers to the physical environment. Pēters Riekstiņš archives all his movements in digital space, and questions the extent to which individual emotions and experiences are revealed through personal data. Maija Demitere also creates a personal archive by documenting each calorie she consumes. The artist reveals how rapidly data – fresh resources for creativity – generates.

Opening hours: Wednesday – Sunday 10.00 – 18.00. Address of Liepaja Museum: Kūrmājas prospekts 16. Admission free.

Electronic and experimental music concert “Under Construction” as a part of the iWeek festival will take place on November 10 at 20.00 in the Liepaja Concert Hall "Great Amber".
